Lassen Sie mich darauf hinweisen, daß zu den betroffenen Ländern außer der Türkei und Griechenland auch Albanien und ein Teil Italiens gehören, wo im übrigen der Ätna vor kurzem wieder einmal ausgebrochen ist.

I note that, aside from Greece and Turkey, other countries under threat include Albania and Italy where, just a few days ago, Mount Etna showed signs of activity.

Ich bin von diesem Thema fasziniert und direkt betroffen, da ich in einer Region Europas lebe, die durch seismische und vulkanische Aktivität hoch gefährdet ist: Ich spreche von Sizilien am Fuß des Vulkans Ätna.

I am fascinated by, and directly involved in, this matter, living as I do in the European region at greatest risk of seismic and volcanic activity: Sicily, at the foot of Mount Etna.

Dieses Jahr hat der Solidaritätsfonds fünf Anträge geprüft, von denen meine Dienststellen vier( Ausbruch des Ätna in Italien, Erdbeben in der Region Molise, Untergang der Prestige und natürlich Portugal) in einem Gesamtumfang von 88 Mio. Euro genehmigt haben.

This year, the Solidarity Fund has received five requests and my staff have accepted four of them( the eruption of Etna in Italy, the earthquake in the Molise region, the shipwreck of the Prestige and, of course, Portugal) totalling EUR 88 million.
