Die Bezeichnung C80W60 bzw. C80W65 macht deutlich, daß die Abkühlgeschwindigkeit im Kern des Schienenkopfes (Beispiel Schienenform nach AREA 136 [Liefervorschrift der American Railway Engineering Association]) weniger hoch ist als in den Randbereichen und daß dadurch im Kembereich die Umwandlung von Austenit in Perlit bzw. Ferrit-Perlit bei höheren Temperaturen stattfindet.
