Ein der Zeiterfassungseinrichtung nachgeschalteter Sollwertgeber gibt ausgangsseitig die verschiedenen Stromsollwertsignale für den Anzugsstrom bzw. den Haltestrom in einer Abhängigkeit von der Länge der Einschaltdauer des Transistors ab.

300 mA are required, i.e., the two currents can differ by a factor of about 30. If the measuring resistor is chosen to be as small as possible with respect to the starting current to be regulated, a small measurement voltage corresponding to the holding current is obtained which can no longer be evaluated for controlling the switching element. Although a measuring resistor having a higher ohmic value would also be suited to controlling the holding current, it would draw an unacceptably high power loss during the starting phase.
