Die Fassade mit dem charakteristischen Fensterraster wurde abwechselnd mit drei Motiven angestrahlt: Das erste Motiv, Obst und Gemüse, rief die Vergangenheit des Gebäudes– seine Funktion als Großmarkthalle– ins Gedächtnis, während das zweite die Gegenwart thematisierte: Bagger, Kräne und Betonmischer illustrierten den Umbau der Großmarkthalle zum neuen Sitz der EZB.

Three motifs were beamed in rotation onto the signature facade with its grid pattern of windows: the first motif of fruit and vegetables recalled the building's former function as a wholesale market hall; the second focused on the present, with diggers, cranes and concrete mixers alluding to the conversion of the Grossmarkthalle into the ECB's future premises;
