Schaltungsanordnung für eine Plasmalichtbogeneinrichtung, mit einer Stromversorgungseinrichtung (20) zum Anschluß an ein Werkstück (40) einerseits und die Elektrode (30) eines Plasmabrenners (10) andererseits, dessen Brennerdüse (34) in Parallelschaltung zum Werkstück an der Stromversorgung (20) durch Schließen eines Leistungsschalters (72) anschließbar ist, mit einer Lichtbogenrückzugschaltung (80) zum Schließen des Leistungsschalters sowie mit einer Regeleinrichtung (120,100,90) zum Regeln der Stromversorgungseinrichtung auf einen ersten Sollwertstrom (Ip) in einem Zündlichtbogenbetrieb des Brenners und auf einen zweiten Sollwertstrom (Ic) im Bearbeitungsbetrieb des Brenners, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Lichtbogenrückzugschaltung im wesentlichen aus einem Komparator (220) besteht, der den während der Bearbeitung zwischen Elektrode (30) und Werkstück fließenden Momentanstrom (Ia) mit einem dritten Sollwertstrom vergleicht, der geringer ist als der zweite Sollwertstrom (Ic) und der ein den Schalter (72) schließendes Signal (230) erzeugt, wenn der Momentanstrom (Ia) auf den dritten Sollwertstrom absinkt.
