Verfahren zum Entfernen von beim Brennscheiden metallischer Werkstücke (2) gebildeter Rückstände, die vom Brennstrahl (6) eines Schneidbrenners (4) beim Durchdringen eines auf einem Bearbeitungsrost (3) eines Brenntisches (1) aufliegenden Werkstückes (2) erzeugt und unterhalb des Bearbeitungsrostes (3) entfernt werden, wobei gas- und staubförmige Rückstände von unterhalb und parallel zur Ebene des Bearbeitungsrostes verlaufenden Absaugkanälen (7) abgesaugt werden, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der das Werkstück (2) durchdringende Brennstrahl (6) mit seinen gas- und staubförmigen Rückständen in einen mehrere parallel zueinander angeordnete Absaugkanäle (7) aufweisenden Raum unterhalb des Bearbeitungsrostes (3) geleitet und dort je nach Gasanfall von einem oder mehreren im Bereich des Brennstrahls (6) liegenden Absaugkanälen (7), die oben spitzdachförmig geschlossen und an der Unterseite geöffnet sind, entgegengesetzt zur Strahlrichtung des Brennstrahls (6) abgesaugt wird.
