Dies wurde vom Rat akzeptiert, so dass wir nun die Verwendung zur Einleitung der Brunft verbieten können, was in meinen Augen ein großer Fortschritt ist.

The Council accepted this, and we shall now be able to do away with use of the substances for inducing rutting, something I consider to be major progress.

Aus diesem Grunde bin ich an meine Kollegen in den anderen Fraktionen herangetreten und habe sie gebeten, dies gemeinsam zu versuchen. Der Rat hatte erklärt, er wolle diese Stoffe für drei Zwecke beibehalten: erstens zur Einleitung der Brunft bei Rindern, dem hauptsächlichen Anwendungsbereich, zweitens zur Mazeration oder Mumifikation von Feten, auch vorwiegend bei Rindern, und drittens zur Behandlung von Pyometra bei Rindern.

I therefore contacted my fellow MEPs in the other political groups and said that we should perhaps try, for the fact of the matter was that the Council said that it wanted to retain the substances for three reasons: firstly, to induce rutting in cattle, which is the most important area of usage; secondly, for foetus maceration and mummification, also mainly in the case of cattle; and, thirdly, for pyometra in cattle.
