7.5.1 Ein vierter, sich als bedeutender Impulsgeber des Fremdenverkehrs herausschälender Teilbereich des Kulturtourismus ist mit der Film-und Fernsehproduktion verbunden. Besuche an Drehorten und Schauplätzen, wo erfolgreiche Kino-und Fernsehfilme gedreht wurden, führen gegenwärtig in vielen Regionen zu einer Zunahme der Gästeankünfte und Touristenaufenthalte. So hat beispielsweise Alnwick Castle in Northumberland (nördliches Großbritannien), Drehort der Verfilmung der Harry-Potter-Romane von J.K. Rawling, einen Touristenansturm erlebt, der in kürzester Zeit 13 Mio. EUR in die bis dahin leeren Kassen spülte und die Burg zu einem der beliebtesten Ausflugsziele Großbritanniens machte. Ähnliches erlebte in Italien das Schloss Agliè in Piemont, in dem die Telenovela "Elisa di Rivombrosa" aufgenommen wurde, was die durchschnittlichen Besucherzahlen von 100 auf 3.500 pro Woche in die Höhe schnellen ließ. Der Berühmtheitseffekt wirkt auch bei Filmen, die noch gar nicht aufgeführt wurden, jedoch kurz vor der Fertigstellung stehen: in Großbritannien ist das Städtchen Lincoln, in dem der Bestseller "Sakrileg" von Dan Brown verfilmt wird, bereits zu einem Touristenmagneten geworden. In Paris sind sogar Reisebüros entstanden, die ausschließlich Besuche der in dem Roman Browns genannten Orte organisieren.

7.5.1 A fourth segment of cultural tourism which is emerging as a substantial source of tourist flows is linked to film and television-serial productions. Many regions are seeing the number of tourists increasing as more and more people visit sets and places which have played host to successful films and TV productions. Thus, for instance, Alnwick Castle in Northumberland (North of England), which was the setting for the films based on J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter novels, created a tourist flow of EUR 13 million per year almost overnight, making it one of the top tourist destinations in the UK. The same thing happened in Italy at Agliè Castle in Piedmont, where the television serial Elisa di Rivombrosa was filmed: the average number of visitors per week to the castle increased from 100 to 3500. Moreover, the effect of fame even applies to films which are still at the production stage: the small city of Lincoln in England where the film The Da Vinci Code, based on the best-seller of the same name by Dan Brown, is being shot has already attracted large numbers of tourists, while tour agencies have sprung up in Paris running tours solely of the places described in Brown's novel.
