st der Protagonist und ein Hanyō. Seine Hauptwaffe ist das magische Schwert Tessaiga, welches aus einem Fangzahn seines Vaters geschmiedet wurde, und hundert Dämonen auf einmal töten kann. Vollwertige Yōkai können das Schwert nicht benutzen und Inu Yasha kann die Macht von Tessaiga nur nutzen, wenn er vorhat, damit Menschen zu beschützen. Das Schwert ist meist nur eine rostige Klinge, verwandelt sich aber, sobald es gezogen wird, in ein scharfes Schwert. Der am häufigsten verwendete Angriff ist das Kaze no Kizu (風の傷 dt. „Wunde des Windes“, in der Fernsehserie „Windnarbe“). Er trägt einen roten Kariginu – (Jagd-)Kleidung eines Hofadligen – aus dem beständigen Haar der Feuerratte (hinezumi).

Full Yōkai cannot use the sword and inu Yasha can only use the power of Tessaiga if he intends to protect people. The sword is usually only a rusty sword, but transforms when it is dragged in a sharp sword. The most common attack is the Kaze no Kizu (風の傷 or "wound of the wind", in the television series "Wind scar"). He wears a red Kariginu-(hunting) clothes of a court nobleman - from the resistant hair of fire rat (hinezumi).
