Ein eher würfelförmiges Gehäuse hat zum einen den Vorteil einer wirbelfreien Zuströmung, die ohne Umlenkung ausgeführt ist, und zum anderen mehr Platz für ein geräuscharmes, großes Radialgebläse. Auch sind seine äußeren Gehäuseflächen kleiner als bei einem gleichvolumigen Flachgehäuse.
