Für den Alltagsgebrauch empfiehlt sich der Filter Ungelesene, da er sowohl neue als auch alte noch nicht gelesene Artikel anzeigt. Die anderen Filter sind im Grunde nur Sonderfälle und werden seltener verwendet. Letztendlich ist es natürlich Geschmacksache, welchen Filter Sie einstellen.

Sie können wählen, ob die Versionsgeschichte wie vom Befehl cvs log (CVS-Ausgabe), als Baum oder als Liste dargestellt werden soll. Dies ist natürlich Geschmacksache und hängt davon ab, an welchen Informationen Sie interessiert sind. Die Baumdarstellung zeigt deutlich, welche Änderungen in den verschiedenen Zweigen von welchem Autor durchgeführt wurden. Die zugehörigen Protokolleinträge werden als Kurzinfo angezeigt. Die Listenansicht ist schon aufgrund der Darstellung weniger für eine Ansicht der Zweige geeignet, hat aber den Vorteil, dass Sie sich auf andere relevante Informationen konzentriert und dabei weniger Platz auf dem Bildschirm einnimmt. Hierunter fallen insbesondere der Zeitpunkt jeder Änderung und der Anfang der Protokolleinträge. Die CVS;-Ausgabe ist vollständig, aber lang und schwer zu lesen. Um dies zu erleichtern, können Sie die CVS;-Ausgabe durchsuchen, indem Sie auch den Knopf Suchen... drücken.

You can choose to see the history as provided by the cvs log command (CVS Output), as a Tree, or in List form. What you prefer is of course a matter of taste and it depends on what information you are interested in. The tree is an intuitive representation of what has been done on different branches by which authors. As tooltips, you can see the corresponding log messages. The list is by its nature linear and, therefore, does not give an immediate view of branches; on the other hand, it concentrates more otherwise relevant information on less screen estate, namely the time of each change of the file and the first part of the log message. The CVS output information is complete, but long, and difficult to read. To alleviate these problems, you have the ability to search the text of the CVS output, by pressing the Find... button.
