I should like to take up from where Mr Mauro and Mrs Prets left off and, in all modesty, state that we have come a very long way with the new educational technologies in Denmark where 70% of primary schools, 81% of high schools and 92% of vocational and technical courses for young people have daily Internet access.

Wir sollten darüber nachdenken, dass im Jahre 2002 im Durchschnitt 90% der Grundschulen, 98% der Sekundarschulen und 99% der Berufsschulen in den Mitgliedstaaten einen Internetanschluss besaßen, doch nur 39% der Lehrkräfte an Grundschulen, 50% der Lehrer an Sekundarschulen und 58% des Lehrpersonals an Berufs- oder Gewerbeschulen nutzten das Instrument als Unterrichtsmittel.

I want us to reflect on the fact that, on average, 90% of primary schools, 98% of secondary schools and 99% of vocational and technical schools in the Member States were connected to the Internet in 2002. However, only 39% of primary school teachers, 50% of secondary school teachers and 58% of teachers in vocational and technical schools used the Internet as a teaching instrument.

Wir sollten uns noch einmal vor Augen führen, dass im Jahr 2003 durchschnittlich 90% der Grundschulen, 98% der Sekundarschulen und 99% der Berufs-und Gewerbeschulen in den Mitgliedstaaten einen Internetanschluss besaßen, jedoch nur 39% der Grundschullehrer, 50% der Lehrkräfte an Sekundarschulen und 58% des Lehrpersonals an Berufs-oder Gewerbeschulen das Internet tatsächlich als Unterrichtsmittel nutzten.

The main objectives are fighting the digital divide through implementing computer literacy methods, promoting virtual campuses, -twinning of schools, promoting and disseminating good practice and cooperation between Community programmes and action instruments promoted at national level.
