Auf 100 ha Ackerflächen bauen die Fredeburger Kleegras, Getreide, Lupinen, Gemüse und Kartoffeln an, hinzu kommen 55 ha Grünland.

The Fredeburg families cultivate legume-grass, cereals, lupins, vegetables and potatoes on 100 hectares of arable land, in addition to which they have 55 hectares of grassland.

Nach früheren Rodungsperioden war das Exkursionsgebiet noch Ende des 16. Jhdt. eine weitgehend waldfreie Heidelandschaft, die im Norden und Westen von Mooren umgeben war (siehe Abb. 1). Die Moorgebiete wurden bereits im 19. Jahrhundert entwässert und abgetorft, später als Grünland und dann als Acker genutzt. Die preußische Landesaufnahme von 1880 zeigt auf den Sandflächen ein dichtes Knicknetz, das auch heute noch als Netz alter Laubbäume an vielen Stellen im ansonsten nadelholzdominierten Forst erkennbar ist. An zahlreichen Stellen entstanden Sand- und Kiesgruben, die bis ins 20. Jahrhundert genutzt und kontinuierlich vergrößert wurden.

After clearing previous periods the excursion area was still the end of the 16th Century. a largely free heath forest, surrounded on the north and west of wetlands (see Figure 1). The marshes were already in the 19th Dewatered and abgetorft century, later used as grassland and arable then. The Prussian land survey from 1880 shows on the sandy areas a dense crease network that still is seen as a network of old deciduous trees in many places in otherwise dominated coniferous forest. In numerous places emerged sand and gravel pits, the 20th to the Century and were used continuously increased.
