Positionsregler (40) bei einem Glasplattenverarbeitungssystem (10) zum Positionieren einer beweglichen Komponente, die durch einen Regelantrieb (46) angetrieben wird, wobei der Positionsregler (40) zur Verwendung bei einem zentralen Steuersystem angepaßt ist, welches die Verarbeitung der Glasplatten überwacht und steuert und welches Steuersystem einen Hauptcomputer (44) mit einer Einrichtung zur Bereitstellung von Befehlssignalen und Datensignalen aufweist, die sich auf vorgewählte Endpunkte beziehen, der Positionsregler (40) einen Positionsverkoder (48) aufweist, der mit der beweglichen Komponente verbunden ist, und einen Nebencomputer (42) mit einem ersten Eingang, der mit dem Hauptcomputer (44) zum Empfang von Digitalsignalen von dem Hauptcomputer verbunden ist, welche Positionierungsbefehlen, Positionsdaten und Geschwindigkeitsprofildaten entsprechen, einem zweiten Eingang, der mit dem Positionsverkoder (48) zum Empfang von Digitalsignalen von dem Positionsverkoder (48) verbunden ist, welche der aktuellen Positionsinformation entsprechen, einem ersten Ausgang, der mit dem Regelantrieb (46) zur Bereitstellung von Steuersignalen an den Regelantrieb (46) verbunden ist; und einer Logikeinrichtung zum Berechnen eines digitalen Steuersignals, welches für einen Antrieb des Regelantriebs (46) zum Bewegen der beweglichen Komponente in Abhängigkeit von einem Positionierungsbefehl nötig ist, der von dem Hauptcomputer (44) empfangen wird, gekennzeichnet durch einen zweiten Ausgang an dem Nebencomputer (42), der mit dem Hauptcomputer (44) für eine Übermittlung von Digitalsignalen an den Hauptcomputer (44) verbunden ist, welche einer Befehlsbestätigung, einem Fehler, Positionsdaten und Geschwindigkeitsprofildaten entsprechen; und eine zusätzliche Logikeinrichtung in dem Nebencomputer (42) für ein Berechnen der Entfernung, die für ein Positionieren der beweglichen Komponente von der aktuellen Position der Komponente zu einem vorgewählten Punkt benötigt wird, ein Berechnen der gewünschten aktuellen Geschwindigkeit in Abhängigkeit von den Positions- und Geschwindigkeitsprofildaten für den vorgewählten Punkt und eine Übermittlung eines Bestätigungssignals an den Hauptcomputer (44), wenn die bewegliche Komponente den vorgewählten Punkt erreicht hat.

A position controller (40) in a glass sheet processing system (10), for positioning a movable component driven by a variable speed drive (46), the position controller (40) being adapted for use with a central control system which monitors and controls the processing of the glass sheets, the central control system including a master computer (44) having means for providing command signals and data signals relating to preselected end points, the position controller (40) including a position encoder (48) connected to the movable component, and a slave computer (42) having a first input connected to the master computer (44) for receiving digital signals corresponding to positioning commands, position data and velocity profile data from the master computer, a second input connected to the position encoder (48) for receiving digital signals corresponding to the current position information from the position encoder (48), a first output connected to the variable speed drive (46) for providing control signals to the variable speed drive (46); and logic means for calculating a digital control signal necessary to drive the variable speed drive (46) to move the movable component in response to a positioning command received from the master computer (44), characterized by: a second output on the slave computer (42) connected to the master computer (44) for transmitting digital signals corresponding to command acknowledgement, error, position data, and velocity profile data to the master computer (44); and additional logic means in the slave computer (42) for calculating the distance required to position the movable component from the component's current position to a preselected point, calculating the desired current velocity according to position and velocity profile data for that preselected point, and transmitting an acknowledge signal to the master computer (44) when the movable component has reached the preselected point.
