Die Summe wurde aus gegebenem Anlass der Hochwasser-Hilfsaktion Rosenheim gespendet.

In the light of recent events, the sum was donated to the Rosenheim flood relief effort.

Obwohl auch Bayern, Sachsen und Österreich sehr stark von der Flut betroffen waren, hatte ich die Chance, als Bundesvorsitzender der Sudetendeutschen Landsmannschaft eine große Hilfsaktion für die Tschechische Republik in die Wege zu leiten, nicht nur aus traditioneller Verbundenheit mit dem Land, aus dem unsere Familien stammen, sondern weil man in solchen Situationen merkt, dass wir als Nachbarn auf Gedeih und Verderb aufeinander angewiesen sind.

Mr President, although Bavaria, Saxony and Austria were also very badly hit by the floods, I have had an opportunity, as Federal Chairman of the Sudeten German Association, to mount a major relief programme for the Czech Republic. This stems not only from our traditional links with the country our families come from, but also from the fact that in situations like this we realise that as neighbours we are dependent on each other, for good or ill.

Es wird daher eine andauernde umfassende Hilfsaktion während des gesamten Winters erwartet.

A sustained wide-scale relief action throughout the winter period is therefore to be expected.
