Hohepriester

Da sie das gehört hatten, gingen sie früh in den Tempel und lehrten. Der Hohepriester aber kam und die mit ihm waren und riefen zusammen den Rat und alle Ältesten der Kinder Israel und sandten hin zum Gefängnis, sie zu holen.

And when they heard that, they entered into the temple early in the morning, and taught. But the high priest came, and they that were with him, and called the council together, and all the senate of the children of Israel and sent to the prison to have them brought.

Er aber schwieg still und antwortete nichts. Da fragte ihn der Hohepriester abermals und sprach zu ihm: Bist du Christus, der Sohn des Hochgelobten?

But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?

An der Spitze des Moche-Staates stand der Priesterfürst. Er war zugleich weltlicher Herrscher, Kriegsführer und Hohepriester. Zu besonderen Opferzeremonien legte er Diademe an. Diese Würdesymbole sollten die Naturgottheiten gütig stimmen und die Fruchtbarkeit der Natur und des Menschen sichern.

For special sacrificial ceremonies he would put on a diadem. These symbols of dignity were supposed to appease the nature gods and ensure the fertility of Nature and Man.

Und Paulus sprach: Liebe Brüder, ich wußte nicht, daß er der Hohepriester ist. Denn es steht geschrieben: "Dem Obersten deines Volkes sollst du nicht fluchen."

Then said Paul, I wist not, brethren, that he was the high priest: for it is written, Thou shalt not speak evil of the ruler of thy people.

Und als sie sie brachten, stellten sie sie vor den Rat. Und der Hohepriester fragte sie

And when they had brought them, they set them before the council: and the high priest asked them,

Da zerriß der Hohepriester seine Kleider und sprach: Er hat Gott gelästert! Was bedürfen wir weiteres Zeugnis? Siehe, jetzt habt ihr seine Gotteslästerung gehört.

Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He hath spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard his blasphemy.

8 Und der Hohepriester Hilkija sprach zu Schaphan, dem Schreiber: Ich habe das Buch des Gesetzes im Hause Jehovas gefunden.

8 Then Hilkiah the high priest said to Shaphan the scribe, "I have found the book of the law in the house of the LORD."

8 Und Hilkija, der Hohepriester, sprach zu Schaphan, dem Schreiber: Ich habe das Buch des Gesetzes im Haus des HERRN gefunden!
