The Eurozone’s Autumn Hangover

Nach dem irrationalen Boom auf den Börsenmärkten und dem Platzen der Seifenblase der so genannten New Economy ist jetzt Katerstimmung eingekehrt.

After the irrational exuberance on the stock markets and since the bubble of so-called new economy burst, disillusionment is the order of the day.

Natürlich waren wir in den ersten Tagen in einer Katerstimmung, und ich freue mich, dass unser Premierminister wieder zu seiner alten Form aufläuft, gestern im Luxemburger Parlament und heute hier, und dass wir uns bewusst sind, dass wir mehr denn je wirklich nach vorne und positiv auf dieses Europa schauen müssen.

We did of course have something of a hangover in the first few days after it was over, and I am glad that our Prime Minister – in the Luxembourg parliament yesterday and in this House today – has regained his old form, and that we are aware of the need, more than ever, for a forward-looking and positive attitude to this Europe of ours.
