Big Ben - zuerst nicht ganz problemlos Ihren ersten großen Auftritt hatte die mächtige Glocke nach einigen Startschwierigkeiten im Jahr 1859. Zuerst wog Big Ben zu viel und riss bei der Generalprobe, beim nächsten Versuch war der Klöppel zu groß und massig und verursachte nach ein paar Monaten enorme Beschädigungen an der Glocke. Erst nachdem Big Ben einen neuen Klöppel besaß, lief alles gut.
