Baron stellt in seinem Essay die Frage, ob man angesichts einer Häufung von Anschlägen seit 2011 von Linksterrorismus sprechen könne. Er konstatiert, es sei keine grundsätzliche Bereitschaft zur Tötung von Menschen erkennbar, sehr wohl sei aber die Hemmschwelle zur Anwendung von Gewalt gegen Menschen deutlich gesunken. Gewaltintensität, Professionalität und Konspiration ließen es legitim erscheinen von einer „Vorstufe“ zum Linksterrorismus zu sprechen.
