Auch die Filmgewerkschaften wollten die Umsetzung erst dann unterstützen, wenn das Wort „Mafia“ aus dem gesamten Film getilgt würde.[4] Ruddy sagte dazu: „Das Wort Mafia kam einmal im Drehbuch vor, ich strich es und konnte drehen.“[3]
