Mariä Geburt

In den Jahren der Unab-hängigkeit beginnt alljährlich am 8. September die Ablassoktav der Geburt der allerheiligsten Jungfrau Maria. Vor dem großen Ablass zu Mariä Geburt ziehen am letzten Sonntag im August zwei Wallfahrtsprozessionen nach Šiluva: aus Richtung Raseiniai durch das Tal der Dubysa und aus dem Städtchen Tytuv?nai. Ebenfalls schon zur Tradition wurde der drei Tage dauernde Pilgerzug von jungen Wallfahrern und Soldaten mit dem litauischen Militärbischof an der Spitze vom Kreuzberg bei Šiauliai zum Ablass der Geburt Mariens. Während des Alasses wird in verschiedenen aktuellen Intentionen gebetet, werden Katechesen gehalten, religiöse Schauspiele und Konzerte aufgeführt.

The eight-day indulgenced feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary begins each year on September 8. Before that, on the last Sunday of August, two processions of pilgrims proceed to the shrine of Šiluva: one from the Dubysa Valley in the direction of Raseiniai, led by the Archbishop of Kaunas, and the other from the town of Tytuv?nai, led by the Bishop of Šiauliai. Another tradition is a three-day pilgrimage in which young people and soldiers walk to the Šilin?s celebration from the Hill of Crosses near Šiauliai, led by the bishop ordinary of the Lithuanian military.
