Abgaskatalysator mit einem wabenförmig strukturierten Metallmonolithen mit einem zylindrischen, an den Stirn­ enden überstehenden, vorzugsweise aus Stahl bestehen­ den Monolithmantel, der mit Abgaszu- und -abführ-Trichtern verbunden und von einer thermischen Isolierung umgeben in einem metallischen Außengehäuse gelagert ist, wobei der Metallmonolith durch eine umgebende Mineralfasermatte im tragend ausgebildeten Außengehäuse gelagert ist und der Übergang zwischen Monolithmantel und Trichter oder zwischen den in einer radialen Querebene geteilten Abschnitten des Außenge­ häuses als Schiebesitz ausgebildet ist und wobei der nicht mit Mantel versehene Monolith nur durch eine Federmatte, aufgerauhte Oberflächen und Spirale oder Stahlringe axial und radial fixiert ist.
