Die Insel Leukas liegt im Ionischen Meer gegenüber der Plaghia-Halbinsel und ist durch eine Brücke mit dem akarnanischen Festland verbunden. Im archäologischen Museum sind die wichtigsten Funde der gesamten Insel vom Neolithikum bis in die römische Zeit ausgestellt. Die materielle Kultur und die Lebenswelt des antiken Leukas ist der des benachbarten Akarnanien sehr ähnlich. So konnten durch die Museumsexkursion Kenntnisse zur Fundbearbeitung in Akarnanien erweitert werden.
