Die Annahme bei der Hochrechnung ist nun, dass die Verteilungsfunktion des aktuellen Monats sich ähnlich wie der Verteilungsvektor F verhält. Mit Hilfe des mathematischen Standardverfahrens der Regressionsanalyse — die Methodik der „kleinsten Quadrate“ — wird ein Regressionskoeffizient ermittelt.
