Nach Stationen bei einer internationalen Anwaltskanzlei und als Partner einer Anwaltssozietät kam er 2001 als Leiter der Abteilung Arbeitsrecht zum Volkswagen Konzern. Dort befasste er sich intensiv mit der Einhaltung regelkonformen Geschäftsverhaltens und war mitverantwortlich für den Ausbau der Abteilung Compliance. Durch die Schaffung einer eigenen Leitungsfunktion wertet Volkswagen das Thema Compliance auf.
