Scherzwort

Es war immer eine Freude, wenn man dann am Schluß- und ich war häufig dabei, nicht immer- oft mit einem Scherzwort auch nach einer langen, schwierigen Arbeit schloß, und ich wünsche, daß dieser Geist, den Sie vertreten haben und den hier einige auch in den Reden jetzt vertreten haben, auch der Geist des nächsten Hauses wird.

It was always a great pleasure to round off a long and difficult sitting- and I was often there at the end, though not always- with a joke, and I hope that the spirit which you have stood for and which several people have reflected in their speeches will continue in the next Parliament.
