Liegt der Temperaturunterschied zwischen der Anfangs- und der Endphase des Schmelzens innerhalb der Genauigkeitsgrenzen der Methode, so ist die Anfangstemperatur als Schmelztemperatur anzugeben; andernfalls sind beide Temperaturen anzugeben.

If the difference between the temperature at the beginning and at the final stage of melting is within the limits of the accuracy of the method, the temperature at the final stage of melting is taken as the melting temperature; otherwise the two temperatures are reported.

Etwa 10 K vor Erreichen der erwarteten Schmelztemperatur wird der Temperaturanstieg auf maximal 1 K pro Minute reduziert.

At about 10 K below the expected melting temperature the rate of temperature rise is adjusted to a maximum of 1 K/min.
