Das Seil, welches Edward Whymper und Vater und Sohn Taugwalder aus Zermatt mit dem Rest der unglücklichen Seilschaft verband und das beim Abstieg riss, ist neben anderen Reliquien der Erstbesteigung im Matterhorn Museum in Zermatt ausgestellt.

The rope, which joined Edward Whymper and father and son Taugwalder from Zermatt to the rest of the unfortunate and which ripped on the descent, is exhibited alongside other relics of the first ascent of the Matterhorn Museum in Zermatt.
