Siegespreis

Der Kotinos () war der Siegespreis der Olympischen Spiele der Antike.

The olive wreath also known as kotinos (), was the prize for the winner at the ancient Olympic Games.

Sie verloren das, was Paulus «den Siegespreis der himmlischen Berufung» (Phil. 3,14) nennt, aus den Augen. Nun, das klingt wie ein Widerspruch, doch verloren sie die unsichtbaren Dinge aus den Augen!

They lost sight of what Paul calls the "prize of the on-high calling" (Philippians 3:14). Now this sounds like a contradiction, but they lost sight of the things that are not seen!
