Isolierkörper zur Hochtemperaturisolierung bei bis zu 1250°C, der aus, bevorzugt natürlichem, Wollastonit mit nadeliger fasriger Kristallform, einem Bindemittel und gegebenenfalls anorganischen Füllfasern besteht und in getrocknetem Zustand eine Dichte < 0,8 g/cm 3 , bevorzugt < 0,5 g/cm 3 aufweist, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der Anteil des Bindemittels im getrockneten Formteil bevorzugt zwischen 10 und 40 Gew.% beträgt und dieser Bindemittelgehalt aus einer Kombination von Kieselsolen oder Alusolen in wässeriger Lösung mit Zusatz eines organischen Bindemittels in Form einer wässerigen Stärkelösung nach Aushärtung des Isolierkörpers, vorzugsweise unter keramischer Abbindung, entstanden ist.
