Eine größere und tiefer klingende Bauform der Streichinstrument ist die Bratsche. Zur selben Instrumentenfamilie gehört das Cello, das aber in einer anderen Haltung gespielt, nählich mit dem Hals nach oben. Der Kontrabass wird stehend gespielt.
