Verfahren zum Brennen des rohen Kerns (grünen Kerns) nach Anspruch 1, gekennzeichnet durch folgende Verfahrensschritte: langsame Erhöhung der Brenntemperatur bis auf 450° unter Zufuhr von Luft (oxidierender Brand) etwas schnellere Erhöhung der Brenntemperatur von 450° bis 700° ohne Luftzufuhr (neutraler Brand) rasches Aufheizen von 700° auf 1200° 2 bis 5 Stunden Halten der Temperatur in neutraler Atmosphäre Abkühlphase mit beliebiger Zeitabhängigkeit Kern für das Feingießen von Kohlenstoffstählen nach dein Wachsausschmelzverfahren hergestellt gemäß Anspruch 4, der aus Quarz (SiO 2 ) und geringeren Gewichtsanteilen von Zirkon (ZrO 2 ) und von Aluminiumoxid (Al 2 O 3 ) besteht nach dem Brennen des Kerns, dadurch gekennzeichnet , daß der Gewichtsanteil von Aluminiumoxid und Zirkon etwa gleich ist, und der Quarz aus Körnern von runder oder polyederförmiger Gestalt besteht.
