  • Wie ein kostbares Juwel liegt das leuchtend weiße Renaissance-Schloss auf einer von einem Wassergraben umgebenen Insel. Anfang 2003 wurde das Schloss in eine private Stiftung umgewandelt. Schloss, Schlossinsel und Schlosspark stehen unter Denkmalschutz.

From the middle of the 18th century to the thirties of the 20th century, the estate was in the possession of the count Schimmelmann, who transform the Castle largely. Since 1955, the Castle as a Museum of Schleswig-Holstein noble culture is one of the main tourist attractions of the country, and presents a part of history with an extensive Mobiliar-, porcelain and painting equipment. In early 2003 the castle was converted into a private foundation. Castle, Castle Island and Castle Park are listed.
