Weltuntergangsstimmung

Die Welt ist schon komisch, denn vor nicht allzu langer Zeit herrschte im Milchsektor noch Weltuntergangsstimmung, und jetzt kann man es kaum glauben, wie gut gelaunt und heiter die Landwirte sind. Zum ersten Mal seit langer Zeit habe ich sie wieder lächeln sehen, weil die Milchpreise sich erholen.

I suppose it is a funny old world, because not that long ago, it was doom and gloom in the dairy sector and it is incredible how buoyant and resilient farmers are that this summer, for the first time in a long time, I saw smiles on their faces because milk prices are recovering.

Zwischen den Institutionen herrscht eben nicht immer eitel Sonnenschein, aber deswegen gleich von Weltuntergangsstimmung zu reden, hilft kein bißchen weiter.

The atmosphere between the institutions is not exactly sweetness and light the whole time, but for all that, to talk immediately in such apocalyptic terms does not help one bit.
