Die III./JG 26 hat sich an diesem Nachmittag Gefechte mit Spitfires und Hurricanes geliefert. Dabei wurden u. a. zwei Hurricanes mit den Markierungen der 229th Sqn als Luftsiege anerkannt. Die 229th ist allerdings gerade nach England zurückverlegt worden, da sie in Frankreich fast völlig aufgerieben wurde. Die verlustig gegangenen Maschinen wurden dort schon um den 26.Mai herum vage als abgängig genannt; es kann also sein, das die Deutschen schon etwas ältere Wracks gefunden haben. Das die deutschen Bomber an diesem Tag in dieser Besetzung über Dünkirchen zugange waren, entspringt meiner Fantasie.
