Verfahren zum Herstellen von schalenförmigen Kunststoffteilen (1) aus faserverstärktem, duroplastischem Kunststoff in einer Umformpresse (20) mit einem eine Matrize (22) und eine Patrize (23) aufweisenden Formwerkzeug (21), bei dem nacheinander folgende Maßnahmen vorgenommen werden: a) ein von der Endlosfasermatte (2) abgetrennter, werkstückentsprechender Zuschnitt (7) wird automatisiert durch Industrieroboter (58, 58') auf die aus der Umformpresse (20) herausgefahrene Matrize (22) abgelegt und dort durch einen sie umgebenden Spannrahmen (24) nachführbar festgehalten, b) der im Spannrahmen (24) abgelegte Zuschnitt (7) wird in dem die Matrize (22) überdeckenden Bereich von einer im Abstand (a) zum Zuschnitt (7) beweglich geführten Sprühdüse (61) mit einer abgestimmten Menge an reaktionsfähigem Matrixharz flächendeckend besprüht, c) nach Zurückbewegen der Einheit (26) Matrize/Spannrahmen in die Umformpresse (20) und Schließen des Formwerkzeuges (21) wird unter Aufrechterhaltung einer abgestimmten Zugspannung im Zuschnitt (7) dieser falten- und anrißfrei in die Matrize (22) drapiert, der Zuschnitt (7) dabei in die gewünschte Schalenform umgeformt, zugleich das Matrixharz in die Faserzwischenräume gepreßt und eingeschlossene Luft daraus verdrängt, d) die harzgetränkte Fasermatte (7) wird während einer abgestimmten Zeitspanne in dem umgeformten und gepreßten Zustand gehalten und dabei das Matrixharz innerhalb des Formwerkzeuges (21) ausgehärtet, e) nach dem Öffnen des Formwerkzeuges (21) wird das Kunststoffteil (1) entnommen und der außerhalb der gewünschten Schalenform des Werkstücks liegende, dem Ausspannen des Zuschnitts (7) während der Umformphase dienende Zuschnittrand (8) vom Werkstück abgetrennt.
