Die Erfindung geht von der Überlegung aus, daß unzulässig hohe Ströme infolge einer induktiven Lastkomponente bei Ansteuerung der Last durch eine Vorrichtung mit Halbleiterschaltelement zur stufenlosen Steuerung elektrischer Verbraucher nach dem Phasenanschnittsprinzip nur dann auftreten können, wenn die Zeitdauer, während der ein in der Steuervorrichtung enthaltenes Halbleiter-Schaltelement einen einer Stromhalbwelle entsprechenden Strom führt bezogen auf die zu steuernde Versorgungsspannung einen Wert übersteigt, der einem Winkel von 180° entspricht. Dies kann einerseits dann geschehen, wenn innerhalb zweier aufeinanderfolgender Zündimpulse, die in der Regel zueinander um 180° versetzt sind, sich die Information über die zu steuernde Versorgungsspannung nicht ändert, oder wenn sich die Polarität der zu steuernden Versorgungsspannung zweimal ändert, so daß ein nachfolgender Zündimpuls sehr früh in einer Spannungshalbwelle kommen würde, was zwangsläufig zu einem unerwünscht großen Strom führen würde.
