The Walls entsprangen 1998 aus der in Irland äusserst populären Band The Stunning. Deren Debüt «Paradise In The Picturehouse» erreichte 1990 Platz 1 in den irischen Charts. «Stop The Lights» ist das dritte Album (ohne EPs) der Band um die Gebrüder Steve und Joe Wall, die auch in The Stunning federführend waren The Walls haben gute sechs Jahre daran gearbeitet. Trotz dieser langen Entstehungsgeschichte klingt das neue Album in keinem Moment verkrampft, im Gegenteil. Entspannt, poppig, harmonisch aber auch beseelt, ehrlich, tiefgehend und emotional sind Adjektive, die gut zu den elf Songs passen. Der Auftakt «Bird In A Cage», von berührendem Indiepop umrahmt, erzählt eine authentische Geschichte von Abschied, Neubeginn und Heimweh.

The Walls arose in 1998 from the immensely popular Irish band The Stunning. Their debut "Paradise In The Picture House» 1990 reached # 1 in the Irish charts. 'Stop The Lights "is the third album (without EPs) of the band around the brothers Steve and Joe Wall, who also were responsible in The Stunning The Walls worked good six years on it. Despite this long history, the new album sounds cramped in any moment, on the contrary. Relaxed, trendy, harmoniously but also soulful, honest, deeply and emotionally are adjectives that fit well with the eleven songs. The opener "Bird In A Cage", framed by stylus contacting Indiepop tells an authentic story of farewell, a new beginning and homesickness.

Dieses Prinzip macht sich Mister Ministeck zu Eigen: seine Vorlagen sind dabei zum Großteil Icons aus der Welt des Computers, deren digitalen Bildpunkte in poppig-bunte Ministeck-Bilder umgesetzt werden. So wird etwa in der Serie "Touchscreens", die nach Screenshots von C 64-Spielen entstand, die Pixelstruktur der ersten Homecomputer der 1980er Jahre in Plastiksteinchen materialisiert.

Mister Ministeck takes advantage of this principle: his themes are for the most part icons from the world of computers, and he translates the digital pixels into bright and cheerful Ministeck pictures.
