Irgendwie kam mir das gesicht bekannt vor, aber ich sagte nichts und wartete ab.

Ljewin hörte nicht weiter zu und wartete ab, daß der Professor wegginge.

Ich verstand nicht, weshalb Calvin stehen blieb, anstatt die Flucht zu ergreifen. Aber vielleicht war es ganz gut so, so konnte er vielleicht endlich mit seiner Schwester sprechen. Natürlich verstand ich seine Bedenken. Wie sollte er auch erklären, dass er sich in all den Jahren kaum verändert hatte und vor allem nicht gealtert war? Trotzdem glaubte ich daran, dass es für Calvin zumindest das Beste wäre, wenn er vor ihrem Tod nochmal mit ihr sprechen würde. Ich wollte den Teufel nicht an die Wand malen, aber Emma war immerhin auch nicht mehr die Jüngste. In diesem Moment kam sie auch schon um die Ecke und ich konnte nicht genau sagen, ob sie Calvin erkannte oder nicht, auf jeden Fall war da eine Reaktion in ihrem Gesicht zu sehen. Ich blieb stehen und wartete ab, was passieren würde.

I did not understand why Calvin remained standing, rather than flee. But maybe it was just as well, so maybe he could finally talk to his sister. Of course I understood his concerns. How could he explain that he had changed little over the years and had not aged particularly?
