We, as well as many other law firms have complained about this to the USPTO, but have you ever tried to get the government to change something – it takes an act of Congress! As such, we no longer put our physical address on the Power of Attorney forms, or the declarations, and we only use our customer number. Please note that there is an “idiot proof” system somewhat in place, because when we file electronically, the file is associated with our customer number when we file, it is just that a human hand removes the association at a later date (i.e. upon generating the official filing receipt) if there is a physical address on the forms.
