Madagascan

I am a madagascan citizen and I am very concerned about the above project which is supposed to take place in one of the last forested area of the country which has already been almost completely deforested. Moreover, this area is part of the most touristic area of the country. Are you aware of this project and could you help ?

Also the conferring of the national order of the Republic of Madagascar to Helmut Zimmermann by the Madagascan president of the senate on May 24th, 2004 contributed to the NAT foundation's reputation. Programmes on German television (ZDF, ARTE, and 3SAT) showed the work of the foundation in German- and French-speaking countries. The low-budget sourcing of the work was still supported by private donators, by members of the NAT fundraising group, by the BIOPAT association (Patenschaften für biologische Vielfalt), by the Bundesverband für fachgerechten Natur- und Artenschutz e.V. and the German embassy. But when no more funding for Madagascar was available to the main sponsor BIOPAT, the completion of the overall project was at risk.

Auch die Verleihung des Nationalordens der Republik Madagaskar durch den madagassischen Senatspräsidenten am 24.05.2004 an Helmut Zimmermann trug zum Renommee der Stiftung NAT bei. Fernsehfilme des ZDF, ARTE und 3SAT zeigten die Arbeit der Stiftung in deutsch- und französischsprachigen Ländern. Die geringe Finanzierung der Arbeiten erfolgte noch durch private Spender, durch Mitglieder des Förderkreises NAT, durch den Verein BIOPAT (Patenschaften für biologische Vielfalt), dem Bundesverband für fachgerechten Natur- und Artenschutz e.V. und der Deutschen Botschaft. Nachdem jedoch dem Hauptsponsor BIOPAT überhaupt keine Fördermittel für Madagaskar mehr zur Verfügung standen, war die Fertigstellung des Gesamtprojekts gefährdet.
