We took big steps towards it when FARM (Financial Accounting and Reporting Manual) was updated and tighter criteria for projects qualifying for PoC was applied to all new projects from Q1 2012 onwards. Ensuring correct revenue recognition method and revenue timing is one of our many important activities in NSN CFO organization. This can often be a complex topic, especially in the beginning of a new project or when the accounting method changes. During the past few months a small team has been looking at how we could improve the start and follow-up of general accounting projects. The team, drawn from Customer Business Controllers, Sub-Region/CBT controllers, SAP key users and Revenue Recognition Experts, has identified a few key areas of improvement which are now documented in a guidance document focusing on practical topics to consider when controlling a project.
