After the American Royal, in October, there was nothing going on until the next spring. Being in barbeque withdrawal, members decided that they should have a New Year's party in late January (they didn't want to rush into anything). A potluck dinner and brief program was planned. Invitations were sent and more than hundred people showed up to visit with their barbeque buddies. From the enthusiasm that was building, it was decided that the club be formalized into a real organization. Nine dedicated members were selected for the first Board of Directors. Monthly meetings were held to establish procedures. Periodic newsletters continued to go out, and membership was slightly more than 100.

Nach dem amerikanischen Royal, im Oktober, es war nichts los bis zum nächsten Frühjahr. Sein im Grill Rückzug beschlossen die Mitglieder, daß sie eine Silvesterparty im späten Januar (sie wollte nicht nichts überstürzen) haben. Ein Potluck und kurze Programm wurde geplant. Einladungen wurden verschickt und mehr als hundert Menschen erschienen, um mit ihren Kumpels Grill besuchen. Von der Begeisterung, die baute, wurde beschlossen, dass der Verein in eine echte Organisation formalisiert werden. Neun engagierte Mitglieder wurden für das erste Board of Directors gewählt. Monatliche Treffen wurden abgehalten, um Verfahren zu etablieren. Regelmäßig Newsletter weiter zu gehen, und die Mitgliedschaft war etwas mehr als 100.
