One thing which is not progressing as well as we had hoped is the Early Childhood Centre project. 17 months after we submitted our application to buy the plot of land, the purchase has still not been approved by the City politicians. This means that the Centre will not be open for business until early 2014. The lack of support from the City recently promoted us to hold a brainstorming session to discuss the school’s image in public and in particular amongst the City fathers. The advice we received from the participants was that politicians will always find it difficult to openly support a successful free school when their own state schools are struggling. When we have 753 students and waiting lists which are starting to get alarmingly long, the reputation of the school amongst the general public can’t be too bad! So, they said, don’t worry, be happy
