“Cooper Standard is committed to proceeding with the improvement of its profitability and competitiveness in order to protect its investments and ensure continued development,” said Robert Kuenning, vice president of operations Europe, Cooper Standard. “Our proposed closure is in no part due to the skill or dedication of the Gent employees, but is the result of adjusting our capacity and resources to better fit the changing global economic landscape.” The Gent facility is focused on the manufacturing of rubber products for the automotive, agricultural, ground movement and commercial vehicle markets. The facility employs approximately 50 people. If the closure would be confirmed, Cooper Standard would work with the appropriate government agencies to assist the affected workers throughout the transition.
