Like Simon, many of us believe that, to be called creative, an activity must generate a valuable or, at least, appropriate product. This opinion often seems to emanate from a fear that crazy ideas could be viewed as creative and the field of creativity thus be considered part of the greater domain of psychopathology. The problem is tricky but the risk of not being able to distinguish a creative idea from a merely inane one seems imminent.
