At the 'toe" of the salt slope on some sections a thin tongue (probably of remnant salt) can often be seen to thin rapidly' eastwards, and in this zone of very thin or non-existent salt, occasional small features are seen at Base Zechstein level (see, e.g. Figs 5, 6) which are sufficiently positive to cause drape by the overlying subsided sequence. In some cases, these may be cuesta-type features produced by erosion-resistant dipping beds of the underlying Devonian. Other cases suggest that either remnant anhydrite, salt pillars, or Zechstein carbonate buildups are present. Two interesting aspects of the salt slope are (1) the lack of any associated major faulting at, or even near to, the salt edge, and (2) the shape of the salt slope on the map (see Fig. lb).

We carry on along this tarmacked road with the village of Teror and its chuch domes within sight. We walk across the ravine and take the El Chorrito street. As we walk uphill we'll come across a children's playground to the left and one of the many renowned butcher's shops in Teror to the right. We carry on straight ahead, entering the village's central pedestrian area.
