The life span of a large walking dragline is indefinite, meaning ALL of the parts are replacable. Believe me I know from experience. However, the life span is dictated by the coal they mine and sometimes even the quality of the coal they mine. When the coal is all mined out they are worth not much more than scrap. But even at that, some large machines are torn down and moved to other coal fields.
