To prevent the sprawling complex from competing with the pyramids, two kilometres away, the 100,000-sq-m main building has been sited at the toe of an escarpment rising from the River Nile delta.

The Mara River is a river in Africa, flowing through Kenya and Tanzania, and lies across the migration path of ungulates in the Serengeti/Masai Mara game reserves. The Mara River basin covers a surface of 13,504 km2, of which approximately 60% is located in Kenya and 40% in Tanzania. From its sources in the Kenyan highlands, the river flows for about 395km and originates from the Mau Escarpment and drains into Lake Victoria. The basin can be roughly divided into four land use and/or administrative units: The Mau Escarpment: The Mara River originates from the Napuiyapi swamp (2932m), with the main perennial tributaries being the Amala and the Nyangores, which drain from the western Mau Escarpment.

Der Mara River ist ein Fluss in Afrika, fließt durch Kenia und Tansania, und liegt gegenüber der Migrationspfad von Huftieren in die Serengeti/Masai Mara Wildreservate. Das Mara-Einzugsgebiet umfasst eine Fläche von 13.504 km2, von denen ca. 60 % im 40 % in Tansania und Kenia befindet. Von den Quellen im kenianischen Hochland der Fluss fließt etwa 395 km und stammt aus der Mau Escarpment und entwässert in den Viktoriasee. Das Becken kann grob in vier Flächennutzung bzw. Verwaltungseinheiten: The Mau Escarpment: The Mara River stammt aus den Napuiyapi-Sumpf (2932m), mit die mehrjährige Hauptzuflüsse des Amala und die Nyangores, die aus den westlichen Mau Escarpment abtropfen lassen.
