Every year, the Natural History Museum Mainz is excavating in the Middle Eocene oilshales with a rich flora and fauna at Eckfelder Maar near Manderscheid (Eifel). As a student you can join in this dig for plant and animal fossils if you stay at least one month. You get an introduction into several excavation techniques and preparation methods. For a month work you get a payment of 460 EURO. Daily transport to the digging site is available. However, you need to organize your overnight stays (there are youth hostels, camping sites and private lodging around) and your food.

Jedes Jahr wird das Naturhistorische Museum Mainz in den mittleren Eozän oilshales mit einer reichen Flora und Fauna am Eckfelder Maar in der Nähe von Manderscheid (Eifel) Aushub. Als Student können Sie in diesem dig für pflanzliche und tierische Fossilien beitreten, wenn Sie bleiben mindestens einen Monat. Sie erhalten eine Einführung in verschiedene Techniken Ausgrabung und Zubereitungsmethoden. Seit einem Monat Arbeit erhalten Sie eine Zahlung von 460 EURO. Täglicher Transport zu den Graben Website zur Verfügung steht. Allerdings müssen Sie Ihre Übernachtungen (es gibt Jugendherbergen, Campingplätze und private Unterkünften in der Umgebung) und das Essen zu organisieren.
